Gli Albi dei tre porcellini was released in Italy by Edizioni Walt Disney - Mondadori.

History

The series featured various comics material in part already published in the weekly "I tre porcellini" with stories of; "Audax" (King of the Royal Mounted) by Zane Grey and Allen M. Dean, "Gianni Giramondo" (Johnny Round-the-World) by Willlam La Varr and F. R., "Guido Ventura" (Brick Bradford) by William Ritt and Clarence Gray, "Piero Pat" (Peter Pat) by John Campbell and Mo' Leff, "Tim and Tom" (Tim Tyler 's Luck) by Lyman Young, "Ispetiore Wade" by Lyman Anderson, "Ted" (Ted Towers) by Frank Buck, "Robin Hood" by Charles Flanders, "La Pattuglia dei senza parura G Men" (G. Men) by George Clarke and Lou Hanlon, "Mandrake" by Lee Falk and Phil Davis, "Tre Cupidini" (Kewpies) by Rose O'Neill, "Eugenio Bellidee" (Phil Fumble) by Ernie Bushmiller, "Skippy and Rico" (Henry) by Carl Anderson.

The series was at first published in big format (from issues #1 to 6, plus the two extra issues) before it was reduced in size. The generic title did change to Gli albi delle grandi avventure with issue 21. The covers of issue 8, 10 and 14 was made by Antonio Rubino.

First issue: February 29, 1936. Last issue: Demember 10,1937.

The series run for 29 issues with three of them devoted to "Mandrake the Magician".

Extra issues

In addition to the 29 regular issues the series had 2 extra issues numbering 7 bis and 11 bis. There was also an issue 14 bis, but this was a supplement for issue 14. Non of the extra issues printed Mandrake stories.

Supplement album

In descember 1939 there was released a 80 pages supplement album #14: "Topolino 1937 Albo-Almanacco", with cover made by Antonio Rubino. The album did not print any Mandrake stories but printed; "Il corsaro fantasma" by Pedrocchi and Dell'Acqua, "Micina Principessa dei Mici" (The Pussycat Princess) by Grace G. Drayton, "Topolino" (Mickey Mouse) by Walt Disney, "Audax" (King of the Royal Mounted) by Zane Grey and Allen M. Dean, "Rico" (Henry) by Carl Anderson, "Braccio di Ferro" (Popeye) by Segar, "Piccolo re" (The Little King) by Otto Soglow and "Tommaso Ficcanso".

Reprint (by publisher)

Mondadori

The "Audax" stories was reprinted in the "Albi d'Oro" 1946 series.

Anali

The "G. Men" stories was reprinted in the "Albi il Fumetio" 1972 series.

Club Anni Trenta

The "Ispetiore Wade" stories was reprinted in the "Collana Grandi Avventure" series in 1970. And #7 and #12 was reprinted in the same series in 1972.

Editoriale Comics

Reprinted #7 in "Comics Club allegato" #1 (1967).

Edizioni Camillo Conti

Reprinted all issues in 1980-81, and the "Topolino 1937 Albo-Almanacco" in 1984.
