From 1944 to 1949, following the success of the weekly magazine "L'Avventura", Casa Editrice Capriotti published a series of separate comics-books devoted to various comic book figures; "L'Uomo Mascherato", "Cino e Franco", "Audax", "Folgore", "Raff", "Radio Pattuglia", "Zorro" and Mandrake.

The "Mandrake Serie" was in fact three distinct series. First one find 5 unnumbered issue of "Gli albi delle grandi avventure" then one find issues 6, 7 10 and 11 before the serie changed name to "Albo avventure". The third serie "Albo avventuroso" interacts with both series but had its own structure.

In fact, the first two series only published Daily strips in black and white. Except the first the books have the classic landscape format, known as the "Italian format". The third series published Sunday pages in color and large square format. Most of the issues have no publishing dates.

The cover artist, Niso Ramponi, signed with the initials "K" or "Kremes".
