History

King Comics reprinted Sunday pages of "Mandrake the Magician" from # 1 to 147. After the end of the series (in # 155, November-December 1949)(*), four more issues (numbering #156 to 159) (*) were published quaterly - but in fact very irregularly as they are from Spring 1950 to February 1952 - by "Best Books Inc.", located in Meriden, Connecticut, this time under the emblem "Standard Comics" as appearing on covers. This last mark was linked to the "King Features Syndicate" comic publications. Since 1948, "Best Books" was specialized in the pursuit of some material previously edited under another label. ==Note (*): the issues #148 to #155 as well as #157 and 158 don't contain any Mandrake stories. .
