RGE or Rio Gráfica e Editora was a Brazilian publisher of comics.
History
Founded in 1952 by Organizações Globo, owner of the O Globo newspaper, the Rio Gráfica e Editora, commonly known as RGE, initially took over the publication of the O Globo Juvenil and Gibi series from its newspaper counterpart. But in 1953, due to a change of policy, the company decided to give each of its most popular characters its own individual comic series. A Mandrake magazine was launched in April of that year. In the late sixties and early seventies, due to a high number of publications and a lack of stories, RGE produced their own Mandrake stories.
In August 27, 1986, Organizações Globo acquired the 103-year old Editora Globo publishing house, merged it with Rio Gráfica and discontinued the RGE brand.
