Export Publishing Entreprises Limited was a Canadian publisher in the years 1947-1951, based in New Toronto, Ontario.
History
"Export Publishing" was a comic books, pocket books and junior publication house. According to[1] their precident, Stanley Roland Schrag, it was a parent company of several Canadian publishing printing concerns. Export Publishing started from the adress at 3079 Dundas Street West and by 1948 moved to a two-story concret block building at 240 Birmingham Street.
The printing house burned[2] down in December 1951, the lost, about closer to half a million according the their vice-president Frank R. Steel, was only partially covered by insurance. The building was sold[3] in 1953 shortly before Stanley R. Schrag went[4] bankrupt, then as the owner of "Studio Publications".
Their comic books were original material and reprinted US comics - such as "Captain Midnight", "Hobby Comics", "Hopalong Cassidy", "Holiday Comics" - when American comics were not allowed to cross the border.
Mandrake
In this specific reprinting way, "Feature Book 55 (Export Publishing)" - one of the issues of the David McKay Company's Feature Book series, with Mandrake - was published by "Export Publishing" in 1949 by arrangement with the McKay company.
The Canadian publisher has also released the Big Giant Comics series composed of various material from the American comic-books (at least one issue of this series has a Mandrake story: issue #5).
