Basil the Great is a character from the Mandrake the Magician comic strip that first appeared in "Mandrake's Family".

Fictional Character Biography

Basil was long believed to be the father of Mandrake and Derek.

In the time of war Basil was a student at the College of Magic. When the foreign invaders came Theron Mandrake was sent away with Basil until the trouble was over. Basil start working at the CM and took care of Mandrake. Basil died shortly after.
