Mandrake began to be featured on the cover pages of '''Afacan''' from its first issue (dated July 30th, 1942) onwards. The adventures reprinted in color in the covers originated from adventures originally serialized in the color Sunday newspapers in the US.
===First series===
The children magazine '''Afacan''' was started in 1932 by [[Mehmet Faruk Gürtunca]]. The series run for 110 issues, ending in 1934. Comics inside are "Mickey Mouse" and various comics by Orhan Tolon.

Beginning with issue 27 Mandrake was shifted onto the b&w interior pages of '''Afacan'''. By this time, the dire economic situation of the war-time era was apparently taking its toll on '''Afacan''' as paper and printing quality began to detoriate. Mandrake would be missing in # 37 and when it resumed in the next issue, the image quality was at an all-time low. With # 39, '''Afacan''' began to print Mandrake in a traced form. And that would not last long either as the werewolf adventure was left incomplete on # 40. '''Afacan''', without Mandrake, survived for two more issues only.
===Second series===
Mehmet Faruk Gürtunca restarted the '''Afacan''' series in 1934. From issue 251 ''(September 7, 1939)'' '''Afacan''' merged with the magazine '''[[Çocuk Sesi]]''', and this ''"double"'' series ended with # 309 in 1940. Comics inside are "Avcı Baytekin ''(Jungle Jim)'' and Tarzan.
===Third series===
Ömer Lütfi Tarhan restarted the '''Afacan''' series in 1942. Mandrake featured on the cover of the first issue ''(July 30th, 1942)'' of the third '''Afacan''' series, until issue 27 were Mandrake was shifted onto the b&w interior pages. About this time the paper and printing quality deteriorated due to the WWII situation. Mandrake is missing in issue 37 and with issue 39 '''Afacan''' began to print Mandrake in a traced form. The ongoing Mandrake story was left incomplete on #40 and '''Afacan''', without Mandrake, survived for two more issues only.
