Robinson was published weekly by the French publisher Opera Mundi in 1936 to 1940. It was a compilation of newspaper strip reprints such as "Mandrake the Magician", "The Phantom", "Flash Gordon", "Brick Bradford" and others.

After 218 issues Robinson merged with Hop-là into a new magazine, entitled Robinson et Hop-là ! réunis (translation : "Robinson and Hop-Là ! together") and started with issue 219 in the southern zone of France – called during World War II “Free zone” / with the German occupation of the northern zone, most of the magazines were still published in this only southern zone. The series ended with issue was 395 in 1944.
