Vie Nuove (in Italian: "New Ways") was a weekly popular magazine published in Italy between 1946 and 1978, in a 20 x 35 cm format, the magazine being a publiaction linked to the Italian Communist Party.

History

The magazine, founded by Luigi Longo in 1946, has historian Paolo Spriano and movie director Pier Paolo Pasolini as contributors of the review.

In the first years of publishing, the covers - in black and white - were devoted to political situations and/or social facts, before becoming dedicated - - in color - to Italian and Hollywood movie stars and popular singers.

"Vie Nuovo" reached its highest circulation selling with 350,000 copies, and was still sold 125-130,000 copies in 1963.

In 1971 the magazine changed its name to "Giorni - Vie Nuove".

In the sixties, comics - such as "Pogo" by Walt Kelly, "Flash Gordon" by Emmanuel McRaboy and "Mr. Abernathy" by Ralston Jones and Frank Ridgeway - were published in black and white on two pages of the magazine. As far as "Mandrake the Magician" is concerned, the Sunday pages were published, also in black and white, between 1965 ans 1967.
