Belonging to the William Randolph Hearst's newspaper chain, "The Chicago Herald-American" was a newspaper merged in 1939 from "The Chicago American" and "The Chicago Herald-Examiner" / (publication size of "The Chicago Herald-American": 28 x 40,5 cm.).

The Chicago Herald-American was an American newspaper that published "Mandrake" daily strip and Sunday strip from 1935 (as "The Chicago Herald-Examiner") to at least 1951 (last date formally known but probably later too).
