Primaggio Mantovi is a Brazilian illustrator born in in Genova, Italy.

He moved to Brazil, in Augsut 1954, with his family which was confronted with the difficulties of finding work in the post-war period.

He began his artist career for the Rio Gráfica Editora “RGE” publisher, drawing covers for its regular series– such as some “Mandrake (RGE)” issues- but also retouching of foreign comics and – to compensate for the lack of American material - he drew the local issues of”Recruta Zero“ (“Beetle Bailey”).

From 1965 to 1968, he drew many RGE issues of western series “Rocky Lane”. He also made numerous illustrations, before working – from 1973 to 184 - for the Walt Disney comics released by the Editora Abril in São Paulo.

In 1991, he won the Brazilian "Angelo Agostini Award" in the category "Master of the National Comics" ( "Prêmio Angelo Agostini de Mestre do Quadrinho Nacional")
