Mundo de Aventuras was a successful comic magazine published in Portugal by Aguiar & Dias, Lda which was running on two successive series from 1949 to 1986.

Issue overview

Regular series

The first of the two distinct series of Mundo de Aventuras had been released from August 1949 to September 1973 for a prolific run of 1252 weekly issues. The series started with each issue featured several comics characters with stories that readers could follow from week to week. This series was directed by Mário de Aguiar e José de Oliveira Cosme. BD Portugal list the series in four different phases:

Between 1950 and 1973, Mandrake the Magician appears in 313 issues for a total of 16 different stories.

A Christmas album was released in 1954. According to BD Portugal the album was reprinted some years after.

Issues with Mandrake

Album Especial

4 unnumbered issues with the sub title Album Especial were released before 1972 (the 4th issue was released June 20, 1972). Most of the stories inside were reprint of previous stories in the regular series.

Second series

Under a more modern look, a second Mundo de Aventuras series was released by Aguiar & Dias, Lda) from October 1973 to January 1987 with a run of 589 issues featuring at least one complete story for one specific comics character in each issue, completed by following parts for other comics. This series was directed by Vitoriano Rosa e António Verde.

As far as Mandrake the Magician is concerned, 35 stories were published in 58 issues.

Mundo de Aventuras Especial

In addition, a separate series - entitled Mundo de Aventuras Especial - was also published in Portugal by Aguiar & Dias, Lda from May 1975 to April 1983 (last issue#32). Several classical comics, such as The Phantom, Big Ben Bolt, Secret Agent X9, Brick Bradford, Dick Tracy and some European series, were published in this series. "Mandrake the Magician" appears in three issues.
