Regular series

L'Audace was a weekly magazine about traveling, sports and adventure. Beginning from issue 60 the magazine start printing comics such as: Brick Bradford by William Ritt and Clarence Gray; Radio Patrol (La pattuglia volante) by Eddie Sullivan and Charlie Schmidt; Tarzan by Harold R. Foster and later Burne Hogarth; and from #87 Mandrake (under the anagram Drakeman) by Lee Falk and Phil Davis. Then followed other comics such as: Ming Foo by Nicholas Afonsky; Bring 'em back alive (Ted Towers) by Frank Buck and Glen Cravath; Tailspin Tommy by Hal Forrest; King of the Royal Mounted Police (Audax) by Charles Flanders; Popeye (Braccio di ferro) by Elzie Crisler Segar; Superman (Ciclone) by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.

Among Italian made stories L'Audace printed: Alle frontiere del Far West by Emilio Salgari and Rino Albertarelli; Virus and Capitan l'Audace by Federico Pedrocchi and Walter Molino; Il dottor Faust by Gustavino; and various stories of other famous Italian illustrators such as Franco Caprioli and Antonio Canale.

From issues 262 (January 7, 1939) to issue 298 (September 14, 1939) L'Audace was published by Anonima Periodici Italiani di Mondadori. Issue 324 (March 28, 1940) was the last one published by S.A.E.V. and the last issues were published by I.D.E.A.. The series ended with #330 January 4, 1941.

Issues with Mandrake

The magazine reprinted the first seven Sunday stories with Mandrake. From the beginning with full pages in color on the back cover, then from issue #147 in b/w or in color inside the magazine, sharing the page with other material. Mandrake appears under the title of "Drakeman re dalla magia" but, at the end, the stories were simply released under the more gerenic title of "Il re della magia". Lothar was renamed Otto. Seven Mandrake stories were published in "L'Audace" in a total of 148 issues from issue # 87 (August 31, 1935) to issue # 254 (November 12, 1938).

Reprint

In the years 1977 to 1992 the issues # 60 to # 330 were reprinted into 17 books by Comic Art under the generic name of "L'Audace di Lotario Vecchi" (name of the SAEV founder). The issues with Mandrake stories (issues # 87 to # 254) can be found in volumes # 2 to # 12.
