Giovanni Marchetti is an Italian cartoonist.
Biography
Marchetti drew almost all the stories in Liberati Spada's "Nanette" series, which was published in 24 issues from May 1969 to October 1971. The last issue was a reprint of the sixth book, while Felmang was the artist for four of the stories (8, 9, 11 and 17). The series written by Giovanni Fiorentini was made for adult readers with a historical setting based on the memoirs of the Countess of Rochefort.
For Eura Editoriale's "Lanciostory" series Marchetti drew several stories with "Ken & Dan". And with Silio Romagnoli he made stories for Edifumetto's "Gigetto" series. Late 70s and early 80s he made "Ken & Dan" stories for the "Skorpio" and "Lanciostory" series by Eura Editoriale.
Fratelli Spada stories by Giovanni Marchetti
To create halftones (to illustrate gray) Marchetti used long lines, often straight and parallel to each other, in his "Nanette" stories. Women's hair is often drawn with long, thin lines with good spacing between them. Such a use of hatching can be seen in three stories with Mandrake.
