Selecciones Gráficas was comics magazine published by Editorial Manuel Láinez in Argentina from 1948 to 1951.

History

In an unusual way, "Selecciones Gráficas" began with a number 369 dated on May 6, 1948... as it was succeeding to another Editorial Láinez publication "Espinaca" ("Spinach") whose first issue dated back to April 17, 1941.

In fact "Espinaca" looked similar, in its oblong format and general presentation, to the future "Selecciones Gráficas", the main difference being that it initially presented stories to follow, at first devoted to humor with the classical "Popeye" then gradually to various American as well as national adventures comics.

The preference of comic readers moving towards complete stories the publisher decided to transform "Espinaca", after one last issue numbered 368, into "Selecciones Gráficas" numbered 369.

In "Selecciones Gráficas" were found very well known comics characters like "Mandrake the Magician", "Jungle Jim", , "Dick Tracy", "Flash Gordon", "Tim Tyler's Luck", "Kerry Drake", "Prince Valiant," "Steve Canyon", "Captain Easy", "Abbie an'Slats", "Joe Palooka" and "Doctor Kildare" amongst others. It also featured national creations like "El vengador", "Puño Blanco", "El Zorro".

However the running time of "Selecciones Gráficas" was rather short since it finished with the issue 530 on June 7, 1951, the publisher having chosen to launch a new comic magazine - with different contents - entitled "Lanza Brava", a publication released between 1951 and 1957.
