Biography

José Manuel Soares is a Portuguese painter and comic book artist. He was born born September 7, 1932 in São Teotónio (municipality of Odemira, region of Alentejo) and has worked for many comic magazines such as "Cavaleiro Andante", "Diabrete", "Lusitas", "Mundo de Aventuras", "Pimpão", "Fagulha" Alegre”, and the Brazilian publishing company EBAL. He has also worked in advertising, and he had his own gallery in Leiria. In August 2014, the "José Manuel Soares Museum" was opened at the Casa da Cultura (= Culture House) of Pinhel (region of Beira, Portugal).

In August 2014, the José Manuel Soares Museum was opened in Pinhel, on the first floor of the "Casa da Cultura" (= Culture House) of Pinhel, Beira region, Portugal.

In 1957/1958, and for the collection Tigre, José Manuel Soares drawn four covers with "Mandrake the Magician".
