The first seven issues of this series have no title, but are later known as Collana Albi grandi avventure; serie Mandrake #2. The story was first printed in L'Avventuroso, issue 44 (August 11, 1935) to issue 59 (November 24, 1935).

Variants

There are two different variants of the cover for this issue:

• First variant: with the date February 1936 and price tag L. 1 printed on the back cover.
• Second variant: with the date February 1936 and price tag L. 1 printed on the front cover.

Interesting both variants were printed by "Stabilimente Grafici Vallecchi" and the titles listed as back issues are identical. Which indicates that both variants were printed in February 1936. The second variant also exists with back list titles from May 1936, which indicates a new print about this time. But the "Il Gaucho Nero" has price L. 0.70 and this one was released in December 1936. There might exist several other prints since this issue is back listed up to the end of 1938.
