Issue overview

Regular series

The series started October 18 1953 and ended with issue 20 February 28 1954. Up to #17 the covers was made by Antonio Sciotti. The size are 17x24 cm and 32 pages. The comic stories begin at the first inner cover page and ends at the back cover. As the text above the title indicate (Le avventura dei 4 più famosi personaggi americani) the series present the four most famous American characters: "L'Uomo Mascherato" (The Phantom) by Lee Falk and Wilson McCoy; "Mandrake" by Lee Falk and Phil Davis; "Cisco Kid" by José Luis Salinas and "Jim della Jungla" (Jungle Jim) by Paul Norris. In addition also: "Johnny Hazard" by Frank Robbins (from #8); "Lone Ranger" by Charles Flanders (#20) and pages of "Michelaccio" (Pete the Tramp) by C D Russell and "Hubert" by Wingert.

Issues with Mandrake

Albums

Unsold copies of the regular series were glued together and sold as "Supplemento ad Albo Furore". There are at least three albums:

  • 1 Albo Furore (June 6, 1954) - Collects issues 6 to 10.
  • 2 Mandrake il mago (July 1, 1954) - Collects issues 11 to 14 and 20.
  • 3 L'uomo mascherato (1954) - Collects issues 15 to 19.

Issues with Mandrake

Supplement Album

Two "Albo Elefante" supplement albums with "Flash Gordon" were released in January 5, 1954: "Avventura sul pianeta Tallium" and "Nel regno dei tartari". A third issue ("Il cerchio si chiude") was announced but never printed. Also, "Aurelia" released their second "Felix the Cat" album as a supplement album to Albo Furore #20.
